The capped half dime is a first so that is always special, and although well worn I am very happy to add this little fellow to my finds collection.
OK Back to the beginning, I peddaled my way to this site today in 91 F humid degrees, so I was quite wet before I got started. I guess I lost track of time, but it didn't seem too long before I had my first coin, a very decent condition 1856 NS 1/2 P token. The ground was soft dry, and sandy, I suspected that any copper might be in decent shape, nice for a change, many are not around here. The majority of coppers this year are quite sad.
It took quite a bit longer for the next coin to come along, probably close to two hours, and I was starting to think about quiting. Funny how a decent find revitalizes you.
Quite satisified with today take for the 2.5 to 3 hours.
A nice NS copper.
A nice decorated button.
A Cool Colonial Silver
The largest button has a crown on it, but doesn't show ? in the pic.
The lead "plume" whatzit thing is kind of cool too.
The last two pics are of a previous hunt.
A nice 1864 NS 1/2 cent, a nice mate to a 1861 I got in June, which makes a set as they are a 2 year only type.
A lead seal that was an unexpected find while helping a farmer find a lost pin. Common, but I don't find many, and always like when they show up.
Pretty happy with the finds so far this Aug. including 3 half dimes.
