Was lookin for a quick hunt tonight and decided to look in the front yard again even though the wife says to "stop digging up the yard" but I've gotten better at it and not fooled as easy. Got a really good hit and out popped this cool old button I think its a military cuff button. Says American button co Newark NJ on the back. Probably not that rare but my first and it came out of my yard. Happy hunting!

It's a US Great Seal button they started making them in 1902 used in WWI & WWII . This one you dug would be from WWI period. American Button Co NJ was listed in making buttons from 1902-1917 the company was bought out by Waterbury Co. in the 1918 after the American Button Co. building burned down.
 

Thanks for the info. Are they pretty common finds? Not gonna sell it but any idea on value?
