These are very small..they have little handles in the middle and are very thin.. the dog is only 1.5"X1.25" and the hen is 1'X1.5". They were both found in the same yard.

Hey those are really cute. The girls and I collect cookie cutters. Those were popular between 1920-1940's and are going for about 5.00 each . Nice find. Some little girl was making mud cookies!

Thanks all, I thought they were cute also and didn't have the heart to throw them away.

I have some like that. And we still use them at Christmas time. They are pretty collectible and worth a few dollars like Gypsy said.

talk about memories, my mom has some, and I used them all the time. She would get mad at me when I would take them outside and make mud cookies with them.

My aunt still uses cookie cutters like them. Must be the cutters, because the cookies are delicious. She loves them and won't use the newer styles.

Wow...I remember having those as a little girl. First of all I was born in 1969, so I would've probably had them at 6,7,8,9 yrs old. Um, if I recall correctly, they came in "kitchen" sets, such as you can buy today. Like those that would've had, 4 plates, 4 cups, 4 forks, knives, spoons, etc. These obviously would have come from a set that was a bake set. I think I remember having a small (same metal) mixing bowl with the little spin mixers...they had red on them...WOW...this really has sparked memory for me.

I purchased most of my "kitchen" stuff at the local "Ben Franklin" dept. store.

Hope this helps...

Thanks all, and CM I'm glad this post sparked some good memories for you and others here..they were found in a typical midwesten suburban back yard.

We had Ben Franklin stores here too, it was my favorite place!

My grandmother it seems used to use those. If I'm right, she had to put flour inside of them so she could tap it on the counter and have the cookie fall out without sticking. Someone replied about a little girl making mud cookies, that's probably exactly how they ended up in the yard. Having 2 daughters myself, I'd stake my paycheck on it. Good Luck, Mike(Iowa).
