Convince me why I shouldn't...

Ok guys, so I'm new to the site and have really enjoyed it to this point. I have been wanting a new hobby and I am thinking metal detecting might be the winner. I love old stuff and I really enjoy being in the outdoors. Mainly what I will be searching for is coins and relics. After a moderate amount of research (and a budget of about $200), I have decided on the Fisher F2. I thought about the Compadre, but I really like the idea of having multiple tones and such. Someone convince me why I shouldn't buy this and get the Tesoro instead. Honestly, I don't think I could go wrong with either, but I like the idea of halfway knowing i'm digging for

Well first, Congratulations and Welcome to the addiction. If you feel the F2 is right for you - buy it! The main differences between the Compadre and the F2 are the Digital readout and the warranty. The two machines compare pretty evenly in depth and sensitivity. I prefer the Compadre, because I am a sound hunter, I think it is slightly better at finding small gold jewelry, and it has a lifetime warranty. But, it is hardwired, so no changing coils. Both machines hold their value for re-sale. Flip a coin!

yes its addicting, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Thanks for starting this thread. It was the exact same thing I was going to start. I think I set my mind on the F2 too.
