I love those Connecticut coppers. You guys should get into some fields in your area. I notice that wooded areas in our area of PA give up crusty, toasted coppers, too. :icon_scratch: You saved some Colonial history and that is all that matters. :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumright:

I"ve been wanting to hit some fields, I just havent' the oppurtunity yet. I have found some wonderful coppers in the woods to.....but some sites are just plain horrible on copper. I have some sites lined up for fall that have adjacent fields, I"m pretty anxious to get away from the roots.

Hey, I thought my penny was useless too and believe me- after a hot peroxide bath (and a glass of wine?) I was able to make not only the indian but the date---- don't give up!

Well, I know when to give up. This little fella is far beyond repair. And believe it or not, this coin is as clean as it will get. I can only hope that the next one will be nicer. ;D

Aww. ok you know better than I do. Nice find from my neighbor state!

Your in the right spot Sniffy. :icon_thumleft:

I hate it when they come from the ground like that. You get a great signal and hope it's NOT toast! Dug up an Irish half penny a month ago but never posted it for that reason. I hope to get out this weekend to start my fall hunting. We are getting colder and I am waiting for ferns to disapate. Nice Find though! Hogge

It is nice to dig away from roots. Alot of my past sites were in wooded lots that were full of roots. Connecticut coppers are always a great find no matter the condition.

I know what you mean about the ferns, at some sites they are still 3 ft high and thick! Can't wait for the fall! Post the old half penny!

Hey, it fills a slot marked "Connecticut Copper" and that's what matters! Nice going Sniffy bud :icon_thumright:  :headbang:

Toasted or not it's still a Connecticut copper and a nice piece of history.

It is too bad that the coppers around here come out so bad. Maybe 1 out 15 or 20 may have some detail. I have dozens that I cannot even identify. Pretty frustrating. But I am not complaining as it sure beats not finding any coppers....

Congrats again....
