🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Conglomerate appearance

These rocks always catch my eye, when creek walking. I was once told they were “cobbles”. After much diligence, I don’t see anything that helps with ID either way.
Description (my terms used):
Shiny and waxy in appearance
Layered and swirled
No visible crystals
The small piece appears to have an outer edge that displays a “crust”
They appear to be fairly hard. I cannot scratch them with an iron nail.

Did you try knapping off some flakes? It looks a lot like flint to me.
I will try it. I didn’t think of flint. I’m not used to seeing it with such multi-colored swirls.
