Found this 1976-S Bicentennial Quarter today halfway through my quarter box. I'm thinking its a 40% Quarter, but wondering where it would have came from? We're these usually broken out of a silver proof set and found its way into circulation?

Looks like an awesome find to me! Congrats on the 40% silver quarter! :)

Yep, it's legit. And it's only 40% silver.

I think it wasn't until 1992 that they started minting 90% silver again for proof sets. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

It looks like one from the 40% silver Brilliant Uncirculated set, not the 40% silver proof set. Good find!

Nice find! Now that's a tough one to catch in the wild!!!

I have one just like that! Found it in a jar of change. Unusual place.

Someone tore open a 'uncirculated' 1976 silver set, and cashed the quarter in for face.

Then you came along...

Thanks everyone, I was thinking that's what it was. Results of the rest of the quarter box yielded a 1964-D. My half box was a skunk, but the dime box I picked up had a 1957-D Roosevelt. It also had about 4 solid rolls of 2013-P dimes. Looked good, kept one, not sure why or what to do with it...
