✅ SOLVED Confirm hitching post. Age?

Found this in the woods where I believe a house stood in the 1870s or earlier. I think it is the top to some sort of hitching post. The inside is threaded, and I see no marks or words. What do you think? As for age, my gut says 1890s, but that is strictly a guess. Any guesses, as I am trying to set my expectations for other finds? Thanks!

I am pretty sure that is a gas cap, similar to an old Chris Craft cap.

creskol, I agree it's a cap, but I'm thinking old radiator ( car/truck/tractor ).

Could well be.. I didn't research it, but was familiar with Craft caps, and that is what it reminded me of.

Thanks...you guys are good. I apparently wasn't even close. Found a bunch of tractor radiator caps online that were similar. None of the listings gave an age, but I am guessing this is old. I will mark this solved. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
