Due mainly to my health I admit to having a lagging interest in MDing as of late. I have not been out hunting or "prospecting" as my wife calls it near as much as I did in the past. Any litle excuse and it seems I opt to stay at home instead. But....always that but! But the qualitiy of friendship and comraderie on the forum keeps me going when interest lags. This is absolutely the finest bunch of folks I have ever had the priviledge to associate with. Sure I don't agree with all the politics or the religious beliefs or even in some life styles, but even so, this bunch of guys and gals are caring individuals and all disagreement is tossed aside if someone is in need. A couple of times I have mentioned off hand that I wish I had something or I need something and dang if it doesn't show up in the mail or UPS within a few days! No charge, no fee, just you need it , I have it and it's yours, no payment needed. What a great bunch! Oh, I need a $20.00 gold piece now! ;D Seriously, I am so glad to have got interested in this hobby and found all you nice folks. Don't change anything. Now that said, have the best Christmas ever and may the next year be kind to you and send lots of treasure your way. M ::) nty

You know we love you big guy :-*

Besides....we really dont care if you cant or dont want to MD....we just want you to keep writing us stories ;)

Monty i get like that too till i see a good place to hunt that i never hunted and then I'm all over it. u have a merry Xmas and happy new year & god bless later

merry christmas to you as well monty! from day one you have been one of the nicest people on the forum. and gypsy is right, whether you are detecting or not doesnt really matter to us anymore. as long as you are posting. ;)

Monty your great in my book MDing isnt everything well thats what The Warden(wife) says....aa

Monty....I have not been able to get out since Dec 4th...more because of weather then anything else...but i really needed the break. As you stated there are a lot of good people here and when we cannot go out, or for whatever reason do not go out...it can be a nice place to just sit and read...

Also funny you mentioned how people will give you things...
When I was making my run to get to 10,000 coins for year, across the forums I had people offering me everything from pouchos to continue in the rain to books for motivation. I was also sent 2 inspiring articles about coinshooters...yes that clad...which helped keep pushing me out to get there...then I started getting messages to get to 11,000...which I did...then 12,000...which i did not...the weather turned bad for me on the 4th and has been a sheet of ice covered by snow.... I fell just under 500 short..but really appreciated those who supported all the time i put in this year... We have had rain for 3 days and it is supposed to hit 47 degrees tomorrow...probably going to see the ground for the first time in almost 3 weeks...but then back into the teens...oh well...hang in there! Happy holidays... :)

Monty I get this lagging interest too but mine comes along in late August when I should be in a panic to find targets before the snow falls. Instead I go fishing and get skunked till I latch onto a Musky and then it seems I am alright again. I think I get burned out or water logged at the end of summer maybe thinking of the eye candy that is going to be putting on heavy coats.

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Monty. To those that just say "Happy Holidays," shove off..... >:(

Where ever your situation takes you Monty... keep posting...

I also have not been out in well over a month... but I still get to T-Net.

Happy Holidays...

Jim

Going into coin shops and looking at those high prices sometimes keeps me detecting. Hopefully - Santa will deliver you something that will revive your spirits. Merry Christmas

Aw, Monty,

This IS one wonderful bunch of people. And you're one of 'em, too, y'know. It doesn't matter to me if you post great finds or lousy finds - or one of your terrific stories (I love those!).

It's all good :-)
Nan

p.s.
or is it that you just don't wanna get your latest Blue Plaid Shirt worn out? ::)
jus' kiddin' ;)

Just sounds like winter doldrums to me . It's hard to get excited about going out, when your nose hairs freeze together in the first 30 seconds you're out there!
( Winter is only an hour old, and I already have 4 foot snow drifts all around :o)

So, stay home, stay warm, and keep us entertained with your (true) stories

:D

:) Hang in there Monty. I was out for almost two years and the good people on here kept me going, too. A nicer bunch of folks you'll not find anywhere else.
Merry Christmas Monty and may 08 be great for you.

Your the best my friend.

I love fla. the land that never freezes --- you can dig all year long (if you don't croak from heat stoke in the summer that is ) Ivan

Monty......If you don't feel like digging....just come here and read. I hope that's enough to keep that detecting flame lit so that maybe someday you can get back out there. 8)

I miss seeing your stories and your posts...but I understand where you're coming from. :-\

Take care, Monty....and have a great Christmas! :-*

Monty,

It could be just the weather. I'm finding myself staying home more, too. There will always be room for you at the T-Net table. You are one of the best people here. I also miss your posts and your stories. Hope 2008 is better for you. I'll be praying for a quick recovery for the health issues. Hang in there.

Perhaps you just need to change your focus. Instead of getting out there digging you can do some research of good places to detect and give that info to a MD club or website. Maybe you can use your time to get some metal detecting equipment together and donate it as a prise for some under privileged youths. How about writing your elected officials and tell them what a bad rap MDs get when public land is off limits to MDing. Writ an article for I don't know maybe Western and Eastern treasures. Don't let your knowledge and experience fade away. Surely you can write about some of the years spent swinging a detector. Go back and look at all your keepers. Every single one has a story - tell it!
;)

You know it has been a while since I made up.....uh, I mean told a true story hasn't it? I guess nothing has grabbed my interest and I find myself repeating myself repeating myself. The other day one of my sons said, "Dad, you've told that story a hundred times"! I asked if I told it the same way or had changed anything. He said, "Well, yeah you did tell it a little different". To which I retorted, "Then it's a different story isn't it"? He just gave me one of these ::) and looked at me like I was nuts. Tee Hee, I can always vapor lock him. He still thinks I can whip him too. That boy would beat me like a drum. I think he secretly knows it but won't try because he and I are so much alike it would be like kicking his own butt. Just the other day he said, "How come the older I get the dumber I get , but you keep getting smarter and smarter"? He vapor locked me! Where am I going with this? Beats me I just like to talk I guess. Will shut up for now . M ??? nty
