Metal detecting in No. Alabama has been at a much lower ebb than usual due to consistent rains. But one good note, we can report on a nice find in old Confederate Currency. A considerable number of 'like new' notes were found in the attic of an old Southern home near Huntsville, AL. Based on the condition, the dates, and the location, we have determined that when "Yankee" General Mitchell was posted to Huntsville, 1861/ 1862, he declared our currency no longer legal tender, so this particular batch was bundled up and stored away, and only recently found. Apparently it has not seen the light of day since 1862 (no dates later than that).

Send some of it out this way....it appears our yankee dollars are goin the way of the confederate money. In fact ya'll diggin them chinese coins just may otta hang on to um....may be the next world currency.

Check the cuts and make sure one border is thinner than the other. They were hand cut from sheets and they used the top of a bill for a guide. On will border should be larger. Just a quick way to start the authentication process.
