Read about it in this morning's paper. Those kids definitely are having a cool experience. With such an old town and the fact the the inlet was very shallow with shifting shoals, there are bunches of wrecks still to be found.
humm capt of the privateer (raider) jeff davis was the infamous capt louis m coxetter * later of blockade running fame * - during the civil war --he was running the fanny and jenny --carrying a gold and jewel incrusted sword from british civil war backers to be given to robert e lee * when she was driven ashore and wrecked by union blockade vessels -- off of wilmington, north carolina .--the sword has never reportly been found .
I'm wondering about that too, will they show artifacts to the public, or
well they sit in a damp box in a building, on marine street. like many others artifacts.
Many of the true local's, been diving on that wreck since in the early 70's and 80's.
I just hope they do everything right, and let the public see everything!!!
