Among actual (1861-65 manufactured) Confederate buttons, there are two possibilities which match up with the exact shape of the letter "I" on your button. (There are many shapes of letter "I" on such buttons.) However, one of the two which exactly matches yours has been reproduced for modernday battle re-enactors.
One of the genuine Confederate buttons has multiple tiny horizontal lines inside the letter I -- and thus civil war button collectors call it a "Lined I" button. See photo below. Your photos are too out-of-focus for me to see if your button has the tiny horizontal lines inside the letter. If it does, it is a genuine Confederate button.
If it doesn't, I'll need you to do the following things:
1- Clean ALL of the dirt encrustation out from around the brass wire loop on the button's back.
2- Super-precisely measure the button's diameter, using a digital Caliper which measures in millimeters or hundredths-of-an-inch (a ruler won't do that), and tell us the button's diameter.
3- Make and post several sharply-focused closeup photos of of the button's front, and its back with the cleaned-up loop.
