It had been a long day. And I'd been working an area, that had produced
a few bullets in the past. Today, nothing but junk iron.

I had one more area, lots of roots. So if I did not get a good signal I was not
going to dig anything.

Will after a few minuet's, I got a signal, shotgun shell. I knew it was. But, I thought.
Ok, last one today, I'm going to dig it.

I think it's a Confederate collar button. But not sure.
I need some help in IDing it.

Thanks Roadquest

Thanks Ralphw, For the quick ID.

Confederate finds of any kind, are getting tougher to find in my search area.

my pleasure, google is a wonderful thing 8)
you're very lucky to have the opportunity to find things like that, Long Island finds are getting slim in general, at least for me anyways.
where abouts are you from?

I'm in Virginia. I got lucky, and cut a deal with a land owner in Dinwiddie.
He owns a large track of land.
If I had the time, I believe I could find some good stuff out there.
The good thing about it is, that the McKenney Bust Dollars are some where
between Dewitt and Dinwiddie.

Ralph, Long island, should have some good places to search, lot of history.
What type of things are you finding out there?

That's a confederate "lined C" button. Nice find, rare button! I know because I found one a while back and had to figure out what it was. Mine is flattened though. Yours is worth a bit.

Ralph,

The McKenney Bust Silver Dollar Cache, is 400 to 1000 Bust, and Morgan Silver Dollars
that were buried in 1915 by W. McKenney. A well to do land owner.
My information came from descendants of McKennney.

But, when I found this. It sure made my day. :occasion14:

Thanks, I did pick a little dirt off it. I'm not going to "clean" it. I like to keep
most of my finds the way they were when they came out of the ground.
