Hello everyone....have not been going out much lately. Went to one sale, a family run estate sale. Got there an hour and half early and no one else showed up until 8:30am. I figured that was a bad sign. It looked like they had a ton of sterling, but it all turned out to be plated.

However, picked up a complete set of 1933 and 1934 Vanity Fair magazines. I see Life magazines all the time, but never see these. I paid a good amount, but think I did alright.

I've been looking through them and can't help to think of the similarities to our time:
- Great Depression happened in 1929 / Great Recession happened in 2008
- Bankers thought everything was all good while common people screwed
- Huge disconnect between bankers/elites and masses
- Horrible leaders coming to power: Stalin & Hitler vs Trump & Hillary
- Let's hope another world war is not in the cards

Here are a few of the choice ones:

Great find. Should be some great ads in them also. Just to add on your comment about another world war. I keep a close eye on the Nuclear activity, and seems that after all the work President Reagan and his administration did to establish the limit on Nuclear Missiles.. INF Treaty with Russia. Russia may be wanting to start the Cold War again. Of course it all depends how accurate the information is.

could be interesting

Amazing graphics I just love these. You can piecemeal out a lot of the ads especially the watch ads. It's a good market for them.

I love the political cartoon like covers.

Love the artwork on these. Is there a 1933 cover featuring Babe Ruth? If you have that, it sells pretty well by itself

Here is all of them starting in Jan 1935 going back to Jan 1933. Lots of interesting stuff. The Jan 1935 article has an article by Keynes. It was gobbledy-gook and Fed double-speak just like today.
