Coming to North Hollywood CA

that's a looong way from the gold producing areas (geographically speaking) of CA. You're not going to be panning there, unless you are prepared for a long drive.

Your best shot at finding gold legally in the Los Angeles area would be the East Fork of the San Gabriel River . It's open to panning , sluicing , and dredging year round . Take the 210 Frwy East and exit Azusa Canyon . Go left on Azusa and up the San Gabriel Canyon Road 10 miles then turn right on East Fork Road . Continue 8 more miles to the East Fork Ranger Station and park below the station . You will need to purchase a parking permit for the day $10.00 to park in the National Forest manditory ! Lots of gold to be found on the East Fork mostly powder , flakes , and some nuggets if lucky . I've done everything from panning to dredging to metal detecting up there and it's a good producer of gold for the weekend miner . Good luck hope you get your share of gold .
