Colorado panning

Be very carefull where you go along that river! most is claimed up and the rest is on privately owned land! do your own research into who owns what! otherwise it could be a very costly mistake on your part!

Well im taking a lady friend up to the poudre river to do a lil panning today! Wish i knew what raw diamonds look like... There are suppose to be diamonds up there! Any suggestion on specific spots?
Google images for raw diamonds will quickly teach you what to look for. There is also a tiny bit of gold in the Poudre.

Use the County Assessor website to explore ownership. Print out the detailed map of the spot you plan to visit so you can show landowners or law enforcement where the ownership borders really are if challenges.

A year or so ago the county considered restrictions on panning and then backed off of doing so. As a result, parts of the Poudre owned by the county are good to go. If Federal then you have to check for claims. If private, try asking!
