Metal Detecting
I've been metal detecting for years and just recently upgraded to a Garrett AT Pro and am looking for some possible sites to legally use it. I'm vacationing in Florissant Co. ( Teller County ) and would love to explore an abandoned gold mine or a possible site for placer gold. I'll be here for 4 more months. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Welcome from Summit County, Colorado. I can't help you much with detectin sites right now cause everything is snowed under and frozen here, but you might look into gold panning. Pretty much any stream is worth a try. You could try detectin for nuggets. Do some research, as there are still a lot of active claims here in the mountains and they do not take kindly to claim jumpers. Most of the active ones that I have seen do have markers posted. And just because nobody is around and no work is goin on does not mean that claim isn't active. Take care and have fun. (If I was you, I'd try to find a place to look for fossils!)

You might consider browsing Sub-Forums: Colorado for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state.
