Colorado and Oklahoma Recreational Prospecting Questions.....

Do any of you folks know the laws concerning Colorado and Oklahoma recreational prospecting? Do I have to stake a claim to prospect, or do I have to have any kind of permit, and are there any restrictions that I should know about? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Any pointers of where to go to enjoy some weekend prospecting that I might actually have a chance of finding some color? In Oklahoma, particularly the Ouchita Mountains, any info would be great...

I've never panned before, but I've always wanted to. I do already have a couple of pans and a small sluice. Just wanting to try and get started in it is all...

Again, thanks for any help, pointers or other information you can offer me...

Gold digger, as far as I know, recreational panning and prospecting is no permit. I'll be down by Antlers in Oct. for the WWATS 2005 Rally. Here's the link. Will try and get you more on rules and regulations for Oklahoma.
