Colorado 3rd Cavalry

These relics were found at the encampment of the fighting parson ,Colonal John M Chivington {pictured below} and his Colorado 3rd Cavalry {the Bloody Third}, at their campsite the night before their infamous raid on a large Indian encampment in 1864, now known as the Sand creek massacre. Not pictured is an Abraham Lincoln inaugural token which I dug at this spot. {these relics were NOT dug at the massacre site}.

Very nice finds, and my first thought was that picture was of Chivington and I was right.

Would love to hear more about your avatar picture's history.
