Posting for a friend, found on east coast, what the heck is it?? Size of a half dollar and nothing on the back. Any feedback will help. Thnx in advance
My first impression was AJ. Could be some kind of peace offering medal for Native Americans. I read many were discarded by the Native Americans after they all came to know that AJ was a sob'n lying ******* .
I feel like we've actually seen one of these here before... It looks Really familiar. But I searched for TreasureNet images with Andrew Jackson and couldn't find it. I know this isn't helpful, I was just checking my sanity. Anyone else have that sense about it?
Like Nhbenz, I too have a vague memory from a few years ago here in the What-Is-It? forum of seeing that guy wearing a very high collar. If I recall correctly it turned out to not be Andrew Jackson. Bramblefind is amazingly successful at finding a match for this kinf of thing. Can somebody contact her with a request to take a look at this?
Whew, thanks for confirming that. And that was my memory too that it turned out not to be Jackson, but maybe Oliver Perry? Or Winfield Scott? And it may well have been Bramblefind that ID'ed it... I have no idea how she does it.
This is the Congressional medal given to the Captain of the USS Constitution during the War of 1812...
I think the posted relic could be a campaign medal or possibly a cloak clasp commemorating service with Commander Hull. I'd like to see the back as well.
I'm going to update my buddy on this... Thank. You all for the search.. I am going to get more pictures asap for you guys.. The facebook MD and relic can't ID this either
