This is a real head scratcher. I found it while digging a colonial trash pit I call the "Swamp Pit", at a plantation site that was active through most of the 18th century.
It has the look, feel and density (very heavy) of plaster. It's flat on the bottom and on one side, and conical on the top.
Any ideas? Could it have been part of a mold, or possibly a piece of a statue (unlikely)? Thanks for any guesses-this is a tough one.
