Got this recently from a collection of bottles found scuba diving here around my area of the Cape Fear. The guy that found this collection passed away a few years back and his wife was wanting to sale some of his bottles and stuff so I told her I would come by and give her a good idea on what she had. He had acquired a very nice collection over the years too. Him and my father had been diving buddies for more than 25 years. I remember watching him and my dad down at the waterfront diving and always coming up with nice bottles. His name was Danny. He actually passed away while scuba diving from a heart attack. I still believe he found Stede Bonnets treasure and that's caused it but that's just my opinion. Either way he went out doing what he loved. It was a honor to look through his stuff for his wife to help her out in letting her know what the stuff was worth. Now, I found this bottle stoneware piece and I was very intrigued because I've never seen it before and if you watch American Pickers, you know that's a good thing! To make this long story a little shorter, does anyone know what in the heck this piece of beauty is?
P.S.
Also while there, she handed me a box of stuff Danny had found metal detecting. He was a avid diver and did a little digging but not much. Anyways, she hands me the box right, and I'm going through it. All I'm really seeing is some basic stuff, stuff like wheaty pennies and a couple worn Indian heads, flat buttons, you know...the stuff those idiots on that digger show go running around like a bunch of morons over. No wonder people tell us no when we asked to metal detect in their yard. Yea, so I'm going through basic metal detecting odds and ends and BAM!!!! The Holy Grail!!!! Copper, George Washington inaugural, March the forth 1789 memorable era button!!!!! I couldn't believe it. My eyes bout popped out my head! I think I even tinkled a little bit in my britches! Danny had no idea. Did some research and in 2005 only 2 copper versions of that button existed. Ofcoarse she had no idea what she had and I could've easily bought it and the whole box for around 20 bucks but WWJD? That's what I did!
