I had this on another thread where I found some colonial items but had no answers and thought someone on here might be able to identify this hook thing I dug....

Second pic shows it was riveted to something copper, I'd say it was a large pot or cauldron, so quite possibly it made a loop and held a handle or ring to hang it over a fire or move it around
Perhaps an old rendering pot

Definitely an attachment to an iron pot which was used to connect the handle. I found one last year but it came from a copper pot.
