Amazing finds today in north Georgia.

About a year ago I found a skeleton key from a site that I've dated to the early 1800s based on my finds. I added a picture of the key but this was found about a year ago.

I went back today and finally found the lock that it probably goes to. Not only did I find a whole lock...I also found a lock that was missing the back plate so you can see the mechanics inside!

Along with some other incredible finds.

Tombac button
Copper button
Two prong fork
Horse stirrups
Horse bits

If anyone knows what the big knife looking thing in the middle is...let me know. Looks like it had a handle on it.

And is that a bell on the top left or a huge tinkling cone?

Thanks.

It was freezing today in North Georgia. Good for you getting out there and finding some neat stuff!
Yep 11 o here in Acworth today , glad it's gonna warm up this week .

Great Saves at the Colonial Site. I really like the locks, the stirrups, and the skeleton key. All great Saves. I found a lock like the ones you found a while back. It was dated back to the War of Northern Aggression. Check the key lock covers to see if they are stamped U.S. If so, they may be of war period 1861-1865, if there was any CW activity in the area in which these were found. Just a thought.
