Hi there, I found this shoe buckle about a month ago in Utica, Indiana. I havent had too much of a chance to get out metal detecting because of work and I am also trying to get everything set for an upcoming reenactment. I am pretty sure this is a shoe buckle, but if anyone has another opinion on what this is, or how old it is, please let me know. Thanks and HH!

Fox

Nice buckle Fox, WTG!!!
Hey, are you still interested in trading one of those old mason jars for a few them lids...
I was hoping to get down that way over the summer, but time has been short.
I did get down to Larenceburg over the 4th of July, but didn't have much time to go on an excursion...

Here's pic of one of the lids, I have six in all...

Neat! Maybe you could post some pics of the reenactment?

Nana ;)

Hey Fox, that is a great looking buckle, and I believe it is old, but I don't think it is a shoe buckle. The old shoe buckles, had a chape and tongue in the middle and it looks like yours had a single iron piece to go into the belt. I would think that yours is a belt buckle rather than a shoe buckle. I am attaching a picture of a shoe buckle. you will see the difference. In any case, it is one cool find. Congrats...Lance
