Colonial Shoe Buckle Frame?

Found this at old homesite. I've found an 1820 large cent at same site in the past. Curious what it is. Next to it is a large musket ball (not from same site). MVIMG_20201002_173104.webp
 

Still don’t know what this is. Not a heel plate- the middle section is broken off indicating it likely was completely symmetrical.

Looks like it's a shoe buckle frame fragment to me, especially how it gets thicker towards the middle indicating a pin hole terminal. Nice Find!

Just cleaned it up a bit. Took a couple more photos with a dime for scale. The rim *does* get large toward the middle. Made of brass.

Really interesting.

I can tell you for sure that based on that last photo showing the edge, that is a shoe buckle frame piece! Awesome!

Incredible! This is so ornate. One heck of a shoe buckle!!
