Any info on this button would be greatly appreciated! Went out with my son and friend today and dug two sites. One we found about five flat buttons. On our way out I hit this area near a stone wall and dug this button up.

Oh and we found two old millstones

Later than Colonial but still early military. More like 1812 era.

Rock cairns and stone walls. About 3/4 of a mile through the woods. There has got to be a coin in here!

Those mill stones are cool. How come you didn't roll them back to the car? ... it's only 3/4 of a mile.:laughing7:

that looks like Pelham/Shutesbury (they have those rock structures as well) - are you in the general area (?) - Im in South Hadley....
cool stuff!

Those mill stones can be worth a ton, cool finds. The state seal button is amazing! You might be onto a gold mine of a site there, I can't wait to see what else you find! Happy Hunting-

Love that Mass button - really nice find! Are you going to attempt to clean it? Looks like there might be some gilt there.

Nice MA State Seal button. Looks like some gold gilt left on that button. A Q-tip with some lemon juice should make that gilt shine.

Thats probably $1000 of Mill Stones!

Thanks guys. I am very glad to have shared the day with my son. He was just as excited as I was.I am north of shutesbury. Close. I am actually thinking about venturing out to Deerfield and surrounding areas. I have detecting a little in Northfield and we found arrowheads . I would like you western mass guys opinion on that area. Is it off limits? I want to head there this weekend with my kids and arrowhead hunt and bring my detector.
