Found in an area with items dating from about 1740-1820. The particular spot I dug it was where some of the mid. 1700s stuff had been found, but everything was fairly close so probably doesn't mean much.

52mm diameter.

They could be, but not sure why "this" would be nailed into"that"?

Looks like some sort of washer or cover, but nailed into what :icon_scratch: and it looks like it hasn't been bent around anything :icon_scratch:

Geez, it's a 3-holer. Close relative to the 4-holer and distant cousin to the 3-ringer.

What was "this' nailed to "that?" Cause.

I usually just use a wash cloth with soap and water. Never tried wine. Hard to get the bottle round back. :laughing7:

Patch, It could have been nailed to something but I doubt it. Odds are it's the same kind of deal as this pewter coin I dug at the bottom of the N.J. canal. I think it and your's were probably used for a sinker (and possibly stabbed by a fork tine).

johnnyi....a sinker as in weight :icon_scratch: the holes in your piece look identical to IP, but why would a sinker be round like that, here in the UK, a sinker refers to a fishing weight :dontknow:

Cool... but forget about my junk lead and tell me what you know about that coin. Halfpenny size? Can you see any detail on the Britannia side/other?

Hmmm, it appears we have a puzzle here with these 3-holed objects from the Colonial era........

Yeah, whizzers/spinner toy is what I was thinking too.

Only two holes are needed, and they would be more centered.
