I was out on our monthly Metal Detecting Association of the Carolina's (MDAC) club hunt today. We were at a location that has history back to the late 1700's. I found this interesting item. As you can see, the corrosion is consistant with lead. But in the first set of images it appears there is a "pine tree" on the front. The last picture is of the back side, it is heavily scratched.

There was a large turn out for the hunt today and we are all stumped. Is it some sort of coin? A lead button? Based on the size, we ruled out a mini ball smashed into a poker chip. Anyone have any thoughts?

I think it's just dropped hot lead that pooled and cooled.

That is probably what it is....runoff from plumbing or bullet-making
