Since relic hunting season is over for me now I decided to take time to put some of my cleaned iron artifacts into one of my new display cases. These are some of the larger items I've dug, and quite a few were recovered this past season. More than half of these are hoes and pot parts, but there are some other interesting items as well. Still have several glass shelves to fill up, but haven't decided what to put on those just yet although early pottery and stoneware might be the best option. To make this happen I may need to consider rearranging stuff in all my cases, or just wait and see what I can dig next season. Sorry for the lousy quality pics, but taking them indoors with all the bad lighting and glare didn't do these artifacts the justice they deserve. But it looks awesome in person. After this past season I definitely have acquired a newly found appreciation for iron.

Looks good Bill, nice variety and preservation job. You were due to start filling that case.

Awesome display of your iron finds. You have really amassed a large collection of early colonial relics. You need to talk to your local historical preservation society (or something like that) and find a public facility that you can display your finds. I am sure that a lot of the general public would appreciate and enjoy seeing your collection. Might also be a good source for leads on hunting sites too.

Bill that axe head is gorgeous with a really nice shape to it. I found a trade belt axe the other day but it was broken. Bummer

Awesome job bill!! I still love that cow bell!

Next year I see plenty more to add to that from one particular spot.

Very nice preservation mr.bill, love the couch also.

Ha - I love that couch too. Its probably 25 years old and in like new condition. Very comfortable for relaxing and reading a good research book.

Love seeing the iron pot and cowbell. Thanks for sharing.

Updated some of the pics to improve the problem with glare..

Thanks Ken. I've seriously thought about loaning some of my colonial relics and coins to the local museum, but right now they're experiencing some budget issues which could potentially result in the facility closing. So until that gets resolved I'm going to hang onto everything for fear it might not get returned. Our museum only has a small smattering of colonial artifacts, and I think I could drastically improve what they have to offer. If the museum survives I plan to one day permanently donate a lot of stuff if I can get some guarantees about its long-term fate.

Nice job on the iron preservation Bill. I like those hoes. I can almost picture the people who were using them in the fields, working along and dropping buttons from their tattered clothes as they went.

Nice case. I really need to get around to something.
I like the pot piece with the "legs ?"
I have only got two iron items cleaned, one iron, and one axe.

Those are beautiful displays, Bill. It is obvious from reading your articles and seeing these photos that you truly love what you do and are darn good at it too. Thanks for sharing with everyone.
