Reminds me of a decorative piece of an old gas lamp. Any additional info on it? What makes you think colonial?

the site im on has had nothing past the civil war on it alot of 1812 buttons came from here and the site did not make it to the civil war. so I dont know if me using the term colonial is right or not.thanks when you say old gas lamp how old do you mean?

Early 1800s to mid 1800s I believe. Did a quick search on the Internet to find some parts that look similar. I could be wrong but it looks similar to one of the parts in the pic I attached. Sounds like your on a good spot.
