Hey all!

Okay, so this spring I dug my first (and second) buttons ever. They were incredible gold-gilted NY Militia buttons, and here was the thread I posted: http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/t...815-found-two-them-right-near-each-other.html

Mentioning this because today I found the EXACT same button... but 60 miles away. Crazy, no? I've only been able to find one or two other photos of this button on the entire internet, and now I have three:

The gold gilt is shining through the dirt so it should clean up nice.

Just before the button, I found this old British copper. I can just read a date of 1824, and it looks slightly bigger than a nickle. It's also my first holed coin. Anyone know what it is? KGIII? It seems farthing-sized. Here are some pics, with a buffalo for comparison:

Also got a bunch of buttons, plus something that originally looked like slag but must be a pin or something because there's definitely a hole machined in the back of it:

Anyone know what this four-sided piece of brass is about? It's very solid, no corrosion. Thought maybe a rifle sight or something off a gun?

Finally, I found another piece of my crotal bell! Gonna have the whole thing together by the end of the year, mark my words ;)

Any help on the coin would be appreciated. Good luck and HH all!

EDIT: Found the coin -- looks like the date is 1834 and it's a gulielmus iiii British Farthing, like this one:

Was this dude a king too? Never heard of him. Cool coin!

You are digging some very nice old items. You've got a great sight for sure. Well done.:icon_thumright:

Congrats on some really awesome finds! Sorry but I can't help with the coin, possibly pendant/pin piece and the brass piece!

Edited to add: The New York Militia Button appears to be a rare variety as one was sold by Stacks for $322. https://www.google.com/search?q=ny+...=WRi0WYedBOeZjwTS5K7ICg#imgrc=k0NF6LO5gp_mjM:

Thanks for that info, Frank! Good to know. Maybe I should sell the others and put em' toward the Deus...

Here's how this one cleaned up:
