Hello Treasurenet,

This past weekend I was metal detecting a colonial site on Long Island where a lot of large cents, flat buttons, reales, etc... have been pulled previously. I got a solid 77 signal on the VX3 at about 5 inches deep, a little low for silver (same depth everything else was). Out popped this.

It is not Spanish and I could barely make any details out. After multiple rounds of electrolysis I believe I see a bird and what looks to be "EG"

Curious if anyone knows what this coin could be. The site yielded many pewter tombacs and the oldest coin to date was a KGII 1745. Youngest Large cent was an 1830 matron.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Goodness, the diameter of this coin would CERTAINLY help us as we try to ID it for you! (measure across the long side)

This is the only coin I can think of with the same style of lettering (see "REGINA" on the reverse). Is your coin either 38mm or 31mm?

Hey Buckleboy sorry for not providing the exact measurement. Yes 38mm diameter! Silver test confirmed it is silver.
Thank you for the response!
