So I lost a metal part in my driveway, and looked for it with my metal detector. (I did't end up finding it) I got a great coin signal and decided to dig it. My driveway is made of gravel so it's not TOO hard to dig. I dug at the gravel with my shovel and discovered a green rim. Thinking it was just a modern penny I scraped at the dirt with my shovel (luckily I only grazed the coin) once I scraped the dirt away, more of the coin was exposed. I thought it was only a quarter until I finally pulled the coin from the earth. Here it is.
I believe it to be a state copper from Vermont, or most likely Connecticut (I can see Britania/early seated Liberty's foot, but what makes me think it is a state copper is that when I put some water on it I saw an "I" and a "D' in "INDE" on the Connecticut /Vermont state coppers) I will clean it up more later and will post if I make a positive ID.
