Colonial Copper ID needed - UPDATED w/ weight & diameter

Smaller than a normal King George .... smaller and thinner... bust faces left and words GEORGIUS - REX on bust side

Better pics after cleaning .... with the diameter and weight ... ideas now? bust clearly to the left and definitely a "V" in GEORGIVS

Thanks again!

GD :)

Possibly this coin....
The coin: Halfpenny, 1742, 28mm. Obv: GEORGIUS | II.REX., portrait left. Rev: BRITAN | NIA, 1742, seated Britannia left. S:3718, C:G2HD-120. The contemporary French king was Louis XV.

Well, smaller and thinner is rather general, and are you sure it is GEORGIUS and not GEORGIVS? Also, I cannot tell it is a bust facing left from the photo, I lean more towards this coin facing right and if so, it is a typical King George III Halfpenny counterfeit. Weight and size varies greatly.

King George II were also counterfeited quite a bit, and if it is facing left, than perhaps it is a counterfeit KGII.

If it really is small and thin, than possibly a farthing. But would need to know the diameter in mm.

As you say VS, but it looks left to me. But a little poorly done so maybe a KGII counterfeit.

Crusader, LOL, sometimes it does not matter which way George is facing! :tongue3: Here is a KG Halfpenny found by a friend in NY state a few years ago, ah, something amiss. :)

A beautiful example of a counterfeit and rather desirable one at that.
I sure would love to find its twin brother.

Hmmmmmn, a Real is silver :tongue3:

Gee, not sure if you were serious or not, I hope not.
By the way the date on this KGIII/KGII counterfeit copper is that of a KGIII. Confused? Good :)

Moral to story and pertinant to this post, not guaranteed to indicate KGII or KGIII by bust direction, but perhaps 99% of the time it is.

That is close enough to say Farthing.

:Djoking

Reminds me of the lead token makers who forget to reverse the letters in the mould. Basic mistake but easily done.
