Today I got out and hiked a couple miles in the woods looking for cellar holes. Annnnd I found one! I knew if I found anything in these parts, it was likely going to be colonial. Even the old 1830 map of the town doesn't show the home or the road that leads to it. I was friggin exhausted from hiking around for hours on end, so I didn't finish hunting the site. I'll be back again and dig anything that beeps. All in all, it was a good day of detecting.
The spot
All of the finds for today
A bunch of hand-wrought nails
Dinner knife
I dug the button, the ring and one of the nails all in one hole. That was a great feeling!
The ring has a glass face and inside is a flower pattern with dots encircling it.
It appears to be an Indian trade ring. Here is one with a similar design: http://www.furtrade.org/wp-content/gallery/ornaments/18-1-ring-05a.jpg
