In the pic on the right it looks like a stub at the top? It could be a key cover for a chest or a lock? HH

004.JPG005.JPG I too found a similar item in my own yard last year along with many other (old) things. Am hoping I may now figure out what exactly it may be. Nice find and good luck to both of us.

It has a stub at the top, middle and bottom on the reverse side. I dont think it was meant to swing to protect a keyhole. Thank you for the reply though.

Less than a month ago I found that exact piece but mine was broken, I had no idea what it was and showed it around, still no clue. I then showed mine to a guy that could teach Rev War history. He immediately said it was the decorative end of a musket trigger guard and had some pictures to back it up. I have to look for it, then Ill post a picture. good luck, great find.

This looks like an old drawer pull handle. Could be very old! I like it too! Although the ones I have found have not been flat but instead fully round like the sample pic.

In my case I think that may be it. Looks very similar. I found matching colonial furniture hinges near where I found this. Thanks for your input Cross Potent and thanks for posting gheenoe78.
