Took these yesterday on a visit to an old water tunnel repair job. The tunnel was driven in 1918 I believe and it taps water from the Laramie River which was named after Jacques La Ramie, a fur trapper who trapped the area in the early 19th. The tunnel dumps out on the upper Cache la Poudre River which in French was a place where supplies were stashed away. The road to the site is gated and locked this time of the year, but I have the combination. They maintain the road to the jobsite about 6 miles from the gate. The contractor lost a few days of work because the last few days had fallen to 15 below and gelled the fuel line on some of their equipment. The dirt road can take me all the way to Laramie Wyoming, but I haven't gone all the way up to there yet, but in the fall it's its really pretty up in here and I need to do that some time. Much of the forest was destroyed in the Cameron Peak fire a few years ago.

You are lucky to have access to so many old mines! One of my favorite pastimes is exploring old mines and camps. Thanks for the pics.
