I like the old silver glow of that hammered penny. That is a nice sight.
yes the shield side is nice, but as usual with lizzie coins the head side is weak.

why is that :icon_scratch: my one is similar!

The roman silver looks fire damaged like the last one I got. Still need 1 more hammered this year to beat last year but can't manage it. I need to swap hunting grounds. lol

Nice finds Rob, congrats! My Lizzie is in very nice condition however, the obverse of Lizzie is also a little weak. HH, Mike

I don't know either but most of the portraits are weak. Its just the norm, but probably is a good reason :icon_scratch:

these coins are so thin, how did they manage to hammer an image on both sides in the first place? :icon_scratch:

Lizzies are notorious for being poor in quality that's why good ones make good money, her farther :icon_king:Henryv111 also produced poor coinage his coins were so debased he got the knickname old copper nose,as this was usually the place were the copper peered through :icon_study:

No that's just the colour Silver goes in the ground, some times they come out the ground completely black , if it was copper it would be green.

Rob, nice finds, the Elizabeth is very good. How many do you find without the portrait! Shaun, hope you understand now about hammered coins, I thought you were an expert in them!
