Detector(s) used
Minelab Explorer SE/Garrett GTI 2500/ Ace 250
this morning i just had to get out! i havnt been hunting in weeks and i didnt care about it being in the 20s (ok well maybe a little ::)). i went to a park near my house that is really nothing more than a wooded lot. there are tree carvings all over the place from the 20s and 30s all the way to the present, so i knew this park was used once upon a time.i brought the ace 250 with me because this park isnt in the best part of town and i really didnt want to go there with an expensive machine, even if it was early sunday morning.(as it turns out i didnt even see another person the whole time i was there!) i found a spot that looked like it would be great for having a picnic since the weeds were low and the trees were spaced apart. i found nada, zip, zilch! for two hours i came up with cans and bottle caps. then i got a hit! a modern quarter. :(. i decided to go to the top of a hill that looked promising, and as soon as i turned the detector on i got a dime hit at 4". out came a 1926s merc! needless to say i was happy about that! i hunted another hour or so but only managed a 56 wheatie. all in all i didnt get much, but i did get the merc so it was still worthwhile.maybe i should go back with the GTI 2500 on another day, since it really did seem a lot safer than i thought it would be......thanks for looking :)

Hollow,

you got out in the cold, in a bad part of town, and you
got a merc.
WAY TO GO

Would think about going back. Know what you mean about
bad parts of some towns. I always try to go early in the
morning. Good luck if you decide to go back.

Good luck on your return trip too!

Love those Merc's!! Just be careful and remember to keep alert. A dobberman is effective for unwanted visitors. HH Burdie

Nice finds HPR and congrats on the silver! The Ace 250 is a nice detector so I hear but that GTI 2500 is a coin hound, good luck getting back there! HH, Mike

Good job on the merc, Red. :) Sunday morning is a good time to go. All the hoodlums are still asleep. ;)

Dave,
Great find with the merc dime and the 57 wheet.Where I live if you got to question the detector you take because of value, you take the 2500 gti, the 250 ace, and the colt 45
(and a lookout for while you got your head down detect'n)

Very nice!! Sounds like a park I've been hunting lately. I go by myself because I can't guarantee any one else's safety. I could take a hand gun in with me. But there all carrying Colt 45's already. But so far most of them are drinking them and not packing them. I hope anyway Good luck on your return trip. HH
