...and under the carpet
1970 5 Swiss francs
1944 2 Swiss francs (silver)
1944 Canadian V nickel (steel)
Buffalo Nickel (date worn)
1936 Buffalo nickel
7 Assorted war nickels
1927 Mercury dime

Wheat pennies : 1914-D, 1916-D,1919, 2 1929, 1944, 1940, 1942, 1937, 1935, 1936, 1949, 1957

Nice finds ...Lets see a closeup of that 1914-d wheatie ...its a great find :icon_thumleft:

Great finds, but hope I never find cash like that in my house, I'd be forever looking at the walls and wondering???????? You might have to get one of those flexible viewer thingys like plumbers use, drill a few holes and see what lies within. Nuggy

Sweet recoveries there :icon_thumright:

yes we must have a closeup of the 14d! ;D willy

Sure, not a problem. Just to be forewarned, the wheatie is not in the best of conditions, had to ask four other people to confirm on the correct date, and they all concurred, 1914...

Great finds there Drew! :icon_thumright:
Talk about cashing in on your renovations! :D

Any idea why it might have been put there? :icon_scratch:
Maybe some kids idea of buried treasure back in the 70's?

Dave I have my ideas, maybe the old man of the house was stashing his nest egg away from the wifey....(sure hope my wife doesn't read this)

Fantastic post! :icon_thumleft: This is the type of unusual find that I think deserves BANNER. It may not be a high dollar recovery, but it's the kind we read about and wish it would happen to us. Finding hidden treasures in an old house ranks up there at the top for me. I vote BANNER!!!!!!!
Congrats to you Drew,
MM

Great finds!!! Whenever I do drywall work I always toss in a few silver kennedy's for the next person to find. :icon_pirat: A few years ago a guy here in Chicago was remodleing his basement and in the walls he found a loaded 1928 tommy gun!!! Never know what your gonna find in these old houses!!! :icon_pirat: :icon_pirat: :icon_pirat:

Very True!! And great find!! :icon_thumright: Banner for me as well!!!!

My wife is wondering why I just tore down a wall!!! :tongue3: Very nice find for sure and I too have to vote this as a Banner find. Or wait until you dig into some more walls for some more goods so you can post everything together..Just one question here though, Can we see a picture of the the hole after you cover it up? You know the metal detectorist code of ethics :laughing9: Nice stuff and congrats. jgas

That was an interesting post, really enjoyed it! There could be several other small/large hoards, even in the ground or in the attic. You might consider thinking where you would stash some cash and have a look. Good luck and thanks for sharing that find. HH, Mike

I hear what you're saying about the wifey Drew! :laughing7: What they don't know won't hurt them! :icon_thumright:

But, if this was the case with "the old man" I don't think that he would've gotten too far on a little over $10 in cash! :laughing9:

Got yourself a little something extra when you bought that house.I found a silver Swiss 2 Franc coin this summer.
