Coinmaster Classic III

not sure if ya could use it in shallow water or not if its that old i wouldnt give more the 25 bucks for it

These older detectors aren't worth much if compared to todays MD's. But if the price is right for you get it, its better than a stick in the eye. As for the beach, assuming your only mean saltwater beaches, it will do OK in the dry sand but very unstable in the wetsand or near the water. The coil might still be water proof, but don't bet on it as the rubber dries out.

Thank you both for your input - I was thinking along those lines myself. The seller wants $100 and I think it is too much given purchasing a Whites Coinmaster Pro new for $256 and it is using today's technology.

you cant go wrong there i use a coinmaster pro and love it i find a lot of coins and relics with it

I use a coin master II it works fine goes 6-8 inchs in most soil and i dig everything , used it at the beach , it had a issue with alot of black sand but half of the area was fine and hunted in low tide with out a problem . offer the guy 25-35 bones for it .

Ok, ended up buying a brand spankin' new Coin Master GT with Beach mode. The older detector was sol for over 200 bucks - too much for me given the advances in technology - thanks for all the help. I hope to be posting pics of the nectar and maybe some roundness as well! Damn - gotta quit watchin' Diggers!

my coin-master ll
sticks rite with my uncles state of the art ace 2 fiddy and doesn't drive you nuts....never dug a false signal yet and it's cranked up all the way....

I have a Whites SL Classic III and it has a trigger switch, a black sand mode, and a frequency switch like some of the old Fishers, and it seems to be a 1280 clone. It handles salt beaches quite well with these options. If your Coin Classic has these features , it will likely do well on fresh and salt water beaches too. My Classic III does a fair job on BB size gold nuggets, about 8" on a clad quarter, and mine cost me $75.

I have one of those (classic III coinmaster) that belonged to my father. It's a fairly decent, basic beep and dig detector. However, I wouldn't give over $75 give or take for a clean, working one.
