coin/token/medallion? this one has been tough...

Found this today @ a local park. It is heavy for its size and kind of misshapen. Came up as 68 on the AT Pro, which means much higher than nickel range, much lower than copper range. I can make out a small shield with a star in it and a small "2" just to the lower-left of the shield, but that's about it. Gave it a peroxide bath and it helped accentuate what I could already see. See pics below. Last pic is of the back, which is too toasted to see anything. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It's lead, so I would think a lead seal of some sort, even though it is rather large.

Hard to really say, have you found other old finds? Most seals that large that I have seen were mid. 1700s or older.

Haven't found anything of that age to parallel this find, but I do know the land and surrounding area was settled in late 1600s. Thanks a lot for your help.
