Thats what I was thinking...

found an old coin that was similar years ago, but just not sure. This was about 8-10 inches deep in an old part of the park I hunt. Was hoping to put a date to it, but have found no info yet!!

Your coin is from turkey. It is a copper coin called a Para.Minted in Constantinople,it dates to the mid-1800's. Arab dates are too odd for me to be exact about. I can't read the denomination of your coin (worn off). But a 10 para is about 1 1/8" diameter.I think you have a 20 Para at 1 1/4" diameter. And a 40 Para is about 1 1/2'' diameter. I might have some details wrong...I do not talk turkey!

Hi again !! :)

Mackaydon got closer to the real date than I did. ;)

The dating is very difficult because the islamic calender has moon years. Meaning that the months move their position on the year, and so does new year.
So you can´t just add a specific number to the time of the beginn of the calender 622.

But I found this very usefull formulas:

The upper one if you want to calculate from Islamic to Gregorian.

The last one if you want to calculate the other way round

So it would in you case using the upper one go like this:

33 X 1255 / 32 = 1216,9696

1216,9696 + 622 = 1838,9696

So very close to 1839 !! ;D
