Coin/token/button...and ideas ?

My father found this in upstate New York a couple of years ago and recently gave it to me. Neither of us has a clue as to what it is. There is a major civil war history in this area where he lives, used to be a prison camp. I'm not sure if it's related to that or not but would love to get some input.


The object has L.V. on one side and X on the other.
