Coin Ring help....questions

Hello all!
I am doing a presentaion on how to make a coin ring at school on thursday for my Technical Writing class. I have to make a "how to guide" and I was wondering if anyone had any history on coin rings? How did they come about? I have heard that soldiers during WWII used to make them to pass the time. Any truth to this? Thanks for any input!

Thanks for the suggestion! I have no idea where to get a copy in San Antonio. The major bookstores do not carry that magazine. If anyone in San Antonio can point me to where I can get a copy, please let me know. Thanks!
