On the left side all I can make out is what looks like RECUEROO. And on the right side all I can make out is a few letters (MONU).

Looks like a mexican silver to me

Na, the coin is gold in color and that dark area seems to be rust that won’t scrub off with a brass toothbrush. It looks like it's coated with gold leaf. It's a little bigger and about as thick as a penny and a little smaller than a nickel. It’s also attracted to a magnet.

Sorry for the crappy photos, but my batteries just went kaput.
