Coin microscopes?

Are you referring to one of these ?
Then don't waste your time, you have to move this higher than designed just to see anything ...

Same company seems to have several models-what's yours?
Reviews-maybe a photo example would be nice to see if it's worthy.
Thanks

Second one I think !! But like I said, if I put a coin under in normal adjustment I just see a piece of the coin ! :dontknow:

I'm getting one today. I did some research and supposedly it will adjust upward to see the entire coin. If it actually does, I'll post the info.

I have a Dino LIte and they are great, but you get what you pay for. I've had the same one for years now.

Mine doesn’t have enough upward adjustment to see the whole coin. It works fine otherwise.
I purchase mine to take regular whole pictures of coins that I have, but it didn't work, I had to put it on top of books and increase the height just to do that, so now it sits unused ha ha ha

I'll post more later. I was able to view an entire quarter. Dollar and half coins would be an issue I think. We didn't have any to try.

Personally... i have always wanted to get one... just don't know which one is the best overall... was hoping someone would chime in with some hands on experiences.
And... one that was high end but reasonable in price etc.

Okay. I need to learn the lighting and focus to take better pics. Here we go:

Hayve Model DM9-H, it was $85 on Amazon. Like I said, it will take a pic up to quarter size of the whole coin. Anything larger maybe not. I will say, if any of you know a machinist, a new inch or so longer height adjuster bar could be made.

Once I get the lighting and focus down, I think this microscope will do a fine job. These were taken at 1920x1080 resolution. You can go up two more notches of higher res, but you lose real estate in the lens and might not get the whole coin. All in all, I'm pretty happy with it.

I found a commemorative coin similar in size to a dollar coin. I did:
1920x1080 (High Res Low)

2048x1536 (High Res Med.)
PICT0022.jpg

2592x1944 (Highest Res)
PICT0021.jpg

To get this much of the coin I needed to lift the camera/screen some and set it with the set screws. But this shows you don't lose as much as I originally thought would be lost.

I also dug out one of my Confederate half dollar copies.

Still need to get the lighting a bit better. But I think they're looking pretty good. This was all done without having to use anything to raise the lens other than what is included in the box.

Hope this helps someone make an informed decision on a good microscope to buy in the future.

Well I can see the paw print on the back of the Half dollar.
Seems to have good optics for the price.
Thanks for your help.

I have one pretty much like that, yes on most things youd need a longer stem but you can fit a new one with ease

Where can I get a new stem that's longer ?

I have many of the magnification lighted loupes. I use these almost every day. They sell for about $15 on amazon. The downside is you can't find the batteries at a brick and mortar store very economically priced. They can be had on amazon at a very reasonable cost.

My other tools to augment these loupes are a Learning Resources Digital Microscope. I got this at a children's educational store.

A mobile_microscope which sells for about $100 and can take stills or video

A USB endoscope

A Omano Stereo Microscope which sells for about $120 and I purchased better more powerful eye lenses.
