Coin/jewelry to finding a nugget? Help. Xterra 705 gold and MXT is what I'm using.

I live close enough to the CA Gold country to make a trip once a month in search of the elusive nuggets. I've lived in Sacramento but have no ties/friends who were into prospecting. I use the 705 99.5% of the time. I have a little learning on the MXT but have confidence in the machine.

Set ups
705 Gold factory coil, 6"18.75, coiltech 18.75Kh
MXT is stock with 950 Eclipse. I'll be going at this alone or possibly with a friend I'm getting into Detecting but no "mentor"
Should I run the Xterra in AM and dig everything on the + side? The 6" doesn't give me much depth so I'm thinking the stock elliptical or the coiltech? If anyone uses the Xterra or the MXT and can shoot me some tips, I'd appreciate it. I am a coin/jewelry hunter and plan to stay that way but want a natural nugget just to say "I did.." Any help in any way, is appreciated.

Digging everything is always best to make sure that you don't miss anything, especially nuggets masked by a trash item with them.

I don't know what VDI numbers or any nuggets to test on, Im thinking of staying in coin/jewelry mode and just covering ground with the 15". Im not close enough to gold country to make it worth my time so Im hoping to get in and out lol. Maybe I should ask what VDI #'S Gold will give on an Xterra, if anyone knows please help.
