OK all, who's up for a challenge ?
I can usually identify any foreign coin I find while CRHing, in fact, this is a first. Either it is pretty obvious where it's from, or this handy dandy link can help me: http://worldcoingallery.com/index.php
This time, however, there are no obvious clues to work from and I am photo-challenged; so this will really be a good test; relying only on my written description and your imagination/knowledge.
It is the size of a US nickel, though slightly thinner, reeded edge and seems to be CuNi. One side has "1997" across the top, "50" in the center and another language across the bottom. The language doesn't look like from any Asian countries or Arabic. On the other side it has that language across the top and what could be wheat (or some other grain) stalks below that.
I should also note that unlike our coins, where you have to turn the coin from "north to south" to get to the top of the other side, this is like a medallion; where you can turn the coin from "east to west" to get to the top of the other side.
Is it a medallion or token ? I'm guessing not, but I can't seem to locate it via the aforementioned link.
Any help is appreciated; and thanks.
